For more than two decades, Roy Kaufmann has provided strategic communications counsel and expert guidance to businesses, nonprofits, colleges, and government leaders across California, Oregon, and the greater Pacific Northwest.

Fusing a deep understanding of messaging with a genuine appreciation for effective communications, Roy’s natural curiosity and analytical approach have driven his work across industries as diverse as transportation, economic development, criminal justice reform, higher education, and local, state, and federal government.

Clients engage with Roy, and the firm he founded in early 2025, Kaufmann Communications, for guidance on strategic messaging, support with media relations and public affairs, assistance with executive communications and speechwriting.

An Oregonian since the early ‘aught’s, Roy cherishes the Pacific Northwest and the bioregion known affectionately as Cascadia. He and his partner live in Portland with their teenage kids, their ornery but lovable malamute, Storm, their cool cat Floki, and the crows in his alder tree, who seem to like him enough.
